ABOUT US

ABOUT US

H.O.P.E. Horsepark was started by the Chislett family in 2016. The name, H.O.P.E., standing for "Hold on, Pain Ends", was inspired by Colin Chislett, who has been battling stage 4 cancer over the past few years. Our mission is to help heal others by bringing them back to nature, using the healing power of horses.

We are primarily a sanctuary that offers horses and ponies a second chance in life. Our herd is mostly rehabs. Some came in completely broken - physically and spiritually. We spend years learning their nature and their health needs and then if appropriate and by falling in love we often place our special needs horses. Our philosophy is not to teach how to ride only, but to teach how to care for all conditions in the lifetime of the horse. Some horses rehab completely and some never come back, and after many years still fight from their past scars from abuse or neglect. We try to place each one if needed to the perfect match and forever home after a long trial period for suitability and education. We are proud that we use horses that are special needs and believe that our students are educated in all aspects of horse life. Our students learn to recognize the nature of the horse by their mood, communication, and behavior that is read (non verbally), and respected. Kids at age 5 learn to "read the equine " by expression alone and this is our philosophy as some days they hurt, have bad days, are grumpy and sore and we allow them to express themselves and be heard and respected as a majestic animal. In this environment, humans and animals learn to express their inner energy through thought and awareness of behavior - a silent powerful communication so forgotten in modernization yet the most powerful language expressed by life ...our natures.

                                                                                                                                    -Rona-Jane Chislett
